Easily Accessible Kanazawa
Located right in the center of Japan, Kanazawa offers easy access from major metropolitan areas such as Tokyo and Osaka. Once in Kanazawa, there is also easy access to the Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama which are UNESCO World Heritage sites, Takayama, which is famous for its old streets with houses and stores built from the 17th to the 19th centuries, and Matsumoto, which boasts Matsumoto Castle, deemed a National Treasure of Japan.
The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama, along with Takayama, Matsumoto (Matsumoto caslte), and Kenrokuen, a garden designated an indispensable Cultural Property of Japan by Kanazawa tourism, are all featured in the Michelin Green Guide Japan and given the top three star rating. The road connecting these five sites is called the Mitsuboshi Kaidou Three-star road and a Three-Star Route Option Ticket (One-way) is available which allows visitors to travel easily between the sites on the road.
